The ground starts getting a bit hard towards the end of Spring so I usually stop detecting farmland at the beginning of May. Apart from a few trips to the beach that's it for me until July/August.

I usually turn my attention to my other hobby during the summer - flying rc model aeroplanes.

How do other members while away the summer months. Or do you carry on detecting right through summer?

I try and detect during the summer months. Woodland is good if the grass is not long. Waiting for a farmer to cut silage. Also a few pasture fields that the animals have kept the grass low on.

I usually change to beach detecting when the ground gets a bit hard.
